I know, I’m cheating a bit on this one. I already talked about flowers on F day, but I think tulips deserve their own day. They’re such beautiful, cheerful flowers. They don’t have much of a fragrance, but that’s okay. They more than make up for their lack of odor by blooming in a stunning variety of colors.
The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival in the Pacific Northwest runs during the whole month of April. As they warn, it’s up to Mother Nature when the blooms will be at their finest. This year, it appears that happened in the days leading up to Easter weekend. However, if you’re in the area, perhaps a trip to Mount Vernon, Washington isn’t a bad idea this weekend. If I still lived in Seattle, I’d be there with my camera at least twice every April.
Seriously, check out the colors in this beautiful photo by Lisa Kennedy on her Northwest Frame of Mind blog. Click through to her blog entry which is chock full of gorgeous photos from last year’s tulip festival. You might want to follow her blog. Girl’s got skills!
