Outlander, aka My Happy Place

IMG_4416As Pocket Jamie and I watched this week’s episode of Outlander, I was giddy. And as I’ve come to expect, the hour went much too quickly and I was left wanting more. It almost makes me want to wait a few weeks so I have more than one episode to watch at a time. Almost.

I don’t recall exactly when I read Outlander for the first time, but it’s always been one of my favorites. History, romance, Scotland, time travel…who doesn’t want to read that? (I’m very glad Diana Gabaldon decided to try her hand at writing a novel.)

I chose not to re-read the books before watching the series, and so far it’s really been nice to watch things unfold. I’ve read the books many times, but it’s been long enough that I’m fuzzy on the details.

Sometimes I still can’t believe that someone had the good sense to produce a television series based on such a wonderful book. Even though it’s shelved in the–gasp!!–romance section!

Ronald D. Moore is bringing the book to screen in the best possible way. Bloggers are recapping the series in hilarious detail. The world has discovered the talent and beauty of thespians Sam Heughan and Catriona Balfe. Not to mention the rest of the outstanding cast, who have managed to portray the characters exactly as I saw them in my head.

Starz is enabling my addiction by playing the episodes over and over and over again. I can’t stop watching. And I wish today was Saturday.
